A Reflection Before The Service
A Reflection Before The Service
I've got to run to keep from hidin'
And I'm bound to keep on ridin'
I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the midnight rider
-- Gregg Allman and Robert Kim Payne, “Midnight Rider”
from the 1970 Allman Brothers album Idlewild South
Apathy can only be overcome by enthusiasm, and enthusiasm can only be aroused by two things, first an ideal which takes the imagination by storm, and second a definite intelligible plan for carrying that ideal out into practice.
-- Arnold Toynbee in George E. Vincent, "The Library and the Social
Memory",The Library Journal, vol. 29, no. 11 (November 1904) p. 584
The Call To Worship
The Call To Worship
The One-Hundred Fiftieth Psalm
Praise the LORD!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty expanse.
Praise Him for His mighty deeds;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness.
Praise Him with trumpet sound;
Praise Him with harp and lyre.
Praise Him with timbrel and dancing;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe.
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD!
