A Reflection Before the Service

Q33: What is justification?

A33: Justification is an act of God’s free grace, wherein He pardoneth all our sins, and accepteth us as righteous in His sight, only for the righteousness of Christ imputed to us, and received by faith alone.

    Westminster Shorter Catechism

“To abstain from stealing and murdering is a trifling sort of acquirement, but to believe that it is possible for God to do things impossible requires a soul earnestly affected towards Him.”

          John Chrysostom (Commentary on Romans Page 90)

“And he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ He said to him, ‘If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”

        Luke 16:30-31

The Call To Worship

Genesis 12.1-3

Now the LORD said to Abram,

 "Go forth from your country,

And from your relatives

And from your father's house,

To the land which I will show you;

And I will make you a great nation,

And I will bless you,

And make your name great;

And so you shall be a blessing;

And I will bless those who bless you,

And the one who curses you I will curse.

And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed."

So Abram went forth as the LORD had spoken to him .
