The spiritual life is NOT a sprint; it’s NOT even a marathon… it’s a relay. The book began with a passing of the baton (from Moses to Joshua) and now Joshua’s leg of the race is completed and ONCE AGAIN the baton passes – from Moses to Joshua and from Joshua to the people.
And this illustrious career concludes… this passing of the baton commences with a speech (two parts – Chs 23-24 – this week and next)

Today, we draw near and hear this celebratory and serious charge to the people… and it is a kind of charge for us… Joshua is laying tracks for the spiritual life – it’s another clarifying moment –
