This chapter, Isaiah 40, is often associated with Advent – the season of preparation for God’s advent or arrival in Jesus Christ – and the chapter calls us to prepare the way of the Lord…(perfect for Advent Season).This is a passage meant to bring comfort or compassion to those who are really sad and confused and doubting and IN DESPAIR. It’s a kind of preparation for difficulty that has not yet come. For us, it’s a way to stock the shelves of our souls so that when discouragement (last week) or calamity comes, we’ll be stocked up with hope and be able to “rise above” whatever comes our way.Let’s look at: 1) The Calm Before the Storm 2) The Logic of Hope and 3) The Way of Waiting
