Envy

You may not think of yourself as an envious person but this is a very slippery… hard-to-detect… parasite or malignancy in the heart and motives. Shakespeare called it the “Green Eyed Monster” (Othello). It’s also called “the evil eye” (Mark 7.22) – it’s actually a lens through which we see
things/people/self/God.
You can see it in yourself about as clearly as you can look DIRECTLY at your own eye… In other words you need another person to help you or a mirror…so you can at least see a reflection of your own eye…your own GREEN eye.
