“Come Thou Long Expected Jesus”, written by Charles Wesley in 1744 is a Bible-soaked reflection on longing and yearning and the whole earth craving relief from all that’s wrong and all that ruins/spoils life.

I want to try and show, today, that believing the Gospel introduces a bass-note of hope into the believer’s life… And the vibrations of that note weaken our cynicism and fears AND …when we’re actually believing we become contagiously hopeful so that people may even ask us for an explanation (1 Peter 3.15).

So, let’s look at Isaiah’s vision and the longing it inspired in these two old people …and how it can do the same for us:
1. The vision of HOPE in the Bible
2. What “CULTIVATED-HOPE” looked like in these ancient lives
3. What it’ll look like in modern lives
