Good Country People

This moment in the hometown synagogue becomes an occasion for US to think about OUR ideas about a Savior. What DO we hope to be saved FROM? What DO we think is good and evil; “us and them”? What’s wrong with the world that needs to be fixed? How DO we think a Savior would fix it? What DOES it mean to join Him AND are you sure that YOU have? Our kind of people, “Good Country People” (as Flannery O’Connor showed) are often NOT who we think they are:
