The Closing Argument

Today, I’d like to think about Job’s closing argument which ends in a request for an appeal (31.35). I want to look at how it sets up a response from the Judge and also for how it typifies or illustrates a common but harmful or detrimental dynamic in our relationships with God and others.

When you are asked to justify your actions or words these two often undetected mechanisms may be not only unhelpful but can be positively destructive in your relationship with God and with people. Ultimately, the sermon aims to help you prepare YOUR closing argument. Let’s look at:
1. A Faulty Defense – two blockers to grace and love.
2. A Better Plea – get yourself a good attorney
3. YOUR Day in Court – help preparing your defense
